Chicago Bulls: Jimmy Butler trade possibilities after NBA Draft Lottery
Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler has been the subject of NBA trade rumors for some time now. After the results from the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night, which teams make the most sense for a Butler deal?
The Chicago Bulls are currently in an underwhelming position. Jimmy Butler almost single-handily led them to a postseason appearance this season but they were never serious threats to compete for a championship. Aside from Butler, their roster is old, uninspiring and does not fit well in the modern NBA.
The Bulls clearly lack outside shooting which causes spacing on the floor tough to come by. In today’s NBA, it is nearly impossible to compete like the Bulls are trying to do. If the front office would step back and take an honest look at this situation, they would see that a complete rebuild is the best plan of attack for the organization.
As we know, that is unlikely while Gar Forman and John Paxson are making the decisions. The Bulls appear perfectly content to keep rolling out similarly uninspiring lineups year after year.
Butler is not only far and away the Bulls’ best player, he is also their only valuable trade asset. One of the best two-way players in the NBA, Butler is the kind of guy who you want to build a roster around. That being said, the Bulls simply have not shown the ability to get the pieces to surround Butler in order to become a contender. They are at serious risk of wasting his prime years in mediocrity.
While trading a player of Butler’s caliber would never be easy, it may be the best plan of attack for this franchise. Trading Butler for a haul would jumpstart a much-needed rebuild for the Chicago Bulls. There have been many trade rumors surrounding Butler for a long time and they do not appear to be going away anytime soon.
After the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night, we now have more information in relation to a possible deal. Here are two Jimmy Butler trade scenarios that would make sense for the Chicago Bulls.
