Chicago Bears: Five things to look watch for in 2017

Now that free agency is slow and the draft is over, we take a look at some activities taking place in 2017 the Chicago Bears’ fans can look forward to.

Free agency is slow. The draft is over. Now, Chicago Bears fans wait until training camp begins to get their first look at the 2017-18 version of their team. General manager Ryan Pace and his front office certainly raised more than a few eyebrows with their moves both in free agency and the draft.

Some of the moves Pace made confused fans and opponents. Of course, we don’t know how good or bad those moves are until we see the product on the field. The final judge of a front office is winning or losing games. Considering a 9-23 record in his first two seasons, things cannot get much worse, right?

If those moves do work out, Pace becomes another legend in Chicago, especially if it brings another Super Bowl. That talk is for another time, however. Let’s work on improvement before we talk titles.

While we hope that all these moves do result in a winning team, we need to admit that the Bears are in rebuild mode. Rather than rebuild quickly, Pace is taking the methodical road to building a winning team. We shouldn’t expect the team to suddenly win 10 games and compete for the playoffs in 2017. All we need is to see advancement. If we see they’re moving in the right direction, that’s a victory.
