Again, it is much more likely that the Cubs look to add to the starting rotation prior to the 2017 MLB trade deadline. That being said, we saw last postseason how valuable a lights-out bullpen can be. The Cubs appear to have found an elite closer in Wade Davis but they could still use some help in the set-up area.

The combination of Hector Rondon, Pedro Strop, Carl Edwards Jr. and Koji Uehara can get the job done but it does not hurt to add another impact arm to the mix. While the Chicago White Sox have had a strong start to the season, they are still likely to be sellers prior to the trade deadline with David Robertson being one of their most obvious trade chips.

Robertson has been an effective closer for many years and has continued to have success in 2017. Through 9.2 innings pitched this season, Robertson has a 2.79 ERA and has struck out 15 batters. He has great stuff and would be an ideal set-up man for Davis in the Cubs’ bullpen.

The Cubs do not have a major need for another set-up man but it would not hurt. The bullpen is extremely important in the postseason and having another talented reliever to throw at their opponents would not hurt. David Robertson is an extremely talented relief pitcher who would be a great addition for the Chicago Cubs.
