Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carlos Rodon has been on the DL since spring training. Rodon is now heading to the 60 day DL.

The Chicago White Sox have been handling Carlos Rodon’s injury a bit oddly this season. First reports were Rodon would miss a few weeks, that was then changed to five to six weeks. Now Rodon has been added to the 60-day disabled list.

Like many White Sox fans, I am not sure what is going on here, but I am starting to get really concerned with the young starting pitcher. Rodon only made one spring training start and was held back slowly in spring training as if the White Sox already were aware of an injury. I’m not saying Rodon was injured heading into spring training but something seems fishy.

Rick Hahn has stated on multiple occasions that Rodon is progressing well and taking his time to get everything right. But when you add a player to the 60-day DL there’s still questions that need to be answered. Is this a major injury? Are the White Sox playing their cards close to their chest on this one? Unfortunately, I don’t think any of us will get the answers to these questions.

Rodon is a very valuable piece to the White Sox pitching staff and to the rebuild. All we can do is hope that this is just a simple injury that the White Sox are being very concerned with and taking their time. If it’s more than a simple injury than we deserve to know what’s going on.

The White Sox pitching staff as a whole has suffered many injuries to start this season and it would be nice to know that Rodon is just progressing slowly and we should expect him fully healthy come June.

Luckily the pitching staff has been very consistent so far to start the season and Rodon hasn’t been missed as much as he would be if they were struggling. Obviously, there is a rebuild going on but seeing Rodon healthy would be a big sigh of relief for Sox fans.
