Chicago Bears: Possible 2018 NFL Draft First-Round Targets
Derwin James, S, Florida State
Florida State defensive back Derwin James missed a majority of the 2016 season with a knee injury. He suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee early in the season and it caused him to miss a lot of time. That being said, it is not an injury that is expected to impact him in the long-term.

James is one of the most talented defensive players in all of college football. He is a heat-seeking missile on the field, seemingly always making a play on the ball. James is an absolute beast against the run, showing the ability to come up and lay a big hit on the ball carrier when necessary.
He also has a great 6-foot-3, 211-pound frame that allows him to compete well in coverage. James has the size, athleticism and overall coverage ability to play outside cornerback and the speed and range to play deep coverage.
Last but not least, he is a legitimate impact pass rusher from the edge. Yes, Florida State lines up James as a legitimate edge rusher at times and he will create pressure on the passer. James is one of the most unusual and versatile defensive players in college football and his upside at the next level is absolutely massive.
Derwin James is a possible top-five selection in the 2018 NFL Draft and would be an incredible addition to the Chicago Bears defense.
