4. Zay Jones, WR, ECU

The Chicago Bears lost number one receiver Alshon Jeffery in free agency this offseason. They could move forward with Kevin White, Cameron Meredith, Kendall Wright and Markus Wheaton as their primary receivers next forward, but that would not be doing any favors to their quarterbacks.

After investing heavily in Trubisky on Thursday, I could see the Bears looking to get him some weapons in the second round. The most interesting wide receiver prospect left on the board is Zay Jones.

Jones was an extremely productive receiver at ECU, as he set the FBS record for career catches. He is a smooth route runner who shows soft hands, quick feet and natural athleticism. Jones is simply a playmaker who always seems to be in the right spot.

Do not expect Jones to be a franchise number one receiver at the next level. He is not a freak athlete who is going to manhandle opposing defensive backs. That being said, Jones is a rock-solid player who would bring some much-needed stability to the Bears’ wide receiver situation.

Taking Jones in the second round would give Trubisky a talented young receiver to grow with. Ignoring defense is not ideal, but putting Trubisky in the best possible situation to succeed is the most important thing for the Chicago Bears from this moment forward.
