A. . Safety. New York Jets. JAMAL ADAMS

Jamal Adams is one of the best players in the 2017 NFL Draft class. He is a fantastic natural athlete who shows elite playmaking skills. Adams was an incredible in-the-box safety at LSU, showing the ability to make plays against the run and the pass.

Adams comes in as an immediate defensive weapon in the box. However, he also has the skills to be an impressive coverage safety. Adams has big-time speed and fantastic ball skills that make him a legitimate option in the deep middle of the field.

The New York Jets are not exactly loaded with talent at any position on the roster. They could have really gone anywhere with this pick. Instead of reaching, they simply sat back and took the best player on the board. Adams is a fantastic defensive playmaker who will make an immediate contribution.

He is the kind of player who steps up and makes plays when his team needs him to the most. Adams will be a fantastic addition to the Jets defense in 2017 and beyond. This pick reminds me of when they landed Leonard Williams with the sixth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Williams was one of the best players in that draft and the Jets did a great job of simply taking the best player available.

A few years down the line, I think we will look back and be baffled on how Adams fell to the sixth pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. This guy is a stud.
