I have pounded the table for Deshaun Watson to the Chicago Bears with the third overall pick throughout the draft process. I still think Watson or Mitchell Trbusky is possible here, but the Bears adding an impact defender is probably more likely.

Deciding between edge rusher Solomon Thomas and safety Jamal Adams was tough but I decided to go with Adams. He is an instant impact defender who can come in and immediately help the Bears at a major position of need. Make no mistake about it, Adams is an absolute stud who is going to be a fantastic player at the next level.

At LSU, Adams primarily played as an in the box safety. He shows fantastic natural run defense skills and can create pressure on the quarterback from the blitz. Adams also shows great natural man-to-man coverage skills and has the speed and ball skills to play deep coverage as well.

More than anything, Adams is a playmaker. He steps up and makes plays when his team needs him to the most. The Bears have some nice pieces on their defense, but they do not have a rock-solid playmaker to the level of Adams.

When it comes down to it, Adams makes the Bears’ defense much better. If I were in the draft room, I’d be pounding the table for Watson. But I’m not and I think that Adams is the most likely pick if the Bears stay at three. He would undoubtedly be a great addition.
