2. Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State

I mentioned the Bears’ impressive defensive front seven earlier. They have some nice talent up front, but their secondary leaves plenty to be desired. If the Bears can find the right mix of players in the defensive backfield, their defense could quickly become a great unit.

Marshon Lattimore is the clear best player in an absolutely loaded cornerback class. He is a freak athlete at the position who shows incredible natural coverage skills. Simply put, Lattimore is a shutdown cornerback in the making. He is truly the kind of player who you can count on to dominate the opposing team’s best receiver.

Lattimore is great and he would immediately take the Bears’ defense to the next level. That being said, he has a lot of history with injuries. Lattimore’s hamstrings were a serious issue early in his college career and he even had to have surgery on them. If the injuries are behind him, Lattimore would be a fantastic pick, but it is part of the story.

NFL draft guru Mike Mayock put Lattimore to the Chicago Bears in his one and only 2017 NFL mock draft. Mayock is the best in the business and undoubtedly knows what he is talking about. If he thinks Lattimore to the Bears could happen, we should all take note.
