Chicago White Sox: Ranking the Top 10 Minor League Prospects
6. Zack Burdi, RHP
Zack Burdi is another power throwing righty currently in Triple-A with a slew of other top prospects. Burdi is a power thrower and really impressed during spring training. He will most likely be a bullpen pitcher when he comes to the big leagues because of all the pitching depth that is currently in the White Sox organization.

I see him being the closer for the Chicago White Sox possibly as soon as David Robertson gets traded. Burdi is big league ready right now and will probably be the first top prospect called up this season.
Burdi did nothing but impress during spring training and it’s only a matter of time before he is added to the White Sox bullpen this season. It will be nice to see Burdi come out of the bullpen and see how he reacts to major league hitting. Burdi also features a powerful slider that has been clocked at 90 MPH with a lot of movement. You bring a pitcher in to close the game with a 100 MPH fastball and a 90 MPH slider, talk about scary.

If Robertson doesn’t get traded I can still see the White Sox calling Burdi up to get him some experience out of the major league bullpen. With a fastball that can reach 102 MPH who wouldn’t want that kind of stuff coming out of the bullpen in big game situations? Intimidation and speed are great assets for closers in today’s baseball.
