7. Zack Collins, Catcher

Perhaps one of the bigger stars in recent years in college baseball, the Chicago White Sox drafted Zack Collins 10th overall in the 2016 draft. Collins came into the draft as one of the best offensive player available in the entire draft. The big note on Collins is, he is very patient at the plate and draws a lot of walks. And he also has a powerful bat for a catcher.

Collins is expected to make his big league debut in 2018 and the White Sox could definitely use a catcher with power and the ability to be patient at the plate. I for one am looking forward to seeing Collins in a White Sox uniform. The team has struggled to have a decent catcher since the A.J. Pierzynski days.

Collins has struggled so far this season with only nine hits in 49 at bats. But I look for him to turn things around soon as the season is still young. Collins needs to focus on what got him drafted and stay consistent.

It will be nice to see a good young catcher make his way up to the White Sox organization. I for one, am ready for a consistent catcher that can do all the little things well, and also bring a strong bat to the lineup. And that’s what Collins will bring to the club when given the chance.
