2017 NFL Draft Daily Chicago Bears Target: LSU Cornerback Tre’Davious White

Another 2017 NFL Draft target for the Chicago Bears.

The 2017 NFL Draft is a week away. We will finally have an understand of the new talent added to the Chicago Bears’ roster. The speculation will be over and will be able to fully analyze the roster. For now, the speculation continues.

LSU cornerback Tre’Davious White is another 2017 NFL Draft prospect who makes a lot of sense for the Bears. Chicago has obvious holes in the secondary, with cornerback being arguably the biggest need on their roster.

White is not the biggest (5-foot-11, 192 pounds), fastest (4.47 40-yard dash) or most athletic (32-inch vertical) cornerback prospect in this draft class. However, he is simply a good cover corner who can make a difference.

White is an experienced cornerback who has thrived in many different defensive schemes. He shows the ability to play press, off-man and zone coverage. White also breaks on the ball extremely well and can also read the quarterback.

The LSU product was commonly left on an island against the opposing team’s best receiver in college. He typically played well on the outside and showed fantastic ability out of the slot as well.

White is also a strong run defender who is not afraid to come up and make a play. He is not an overly physical tackler, but he will get the ball carrier on the ground. White is also a good and consistent punt returner and has made an impact as a special teams gunner.

While he is unlikely to ever be a true shut-down cornerback, White is a talented player who is a safe bet to be a great number two. His size and overall athletic ability may hold him back a bit at the next level, but White is dominant on tape.

It is hard to imagine him falling off too much at the next level. Tre’Davious White is a great target for the Chicago Bears with their early second round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
