As the Chicago Bears begin their offseason, new quarterback Mike Glennon is eager to show off his skills and help the franchise turn its fortunes around.

With the NFL Draft just around the corner, many fans wonder if the Chicago Bears go after a quarterback. After the team released Jay Cutler, they need a new face of the franchise.

Oh, yeah, the Bears did already sign a quarterback through free agency. They went after and got Mike Glennon, formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They signed him to a 3-year, $45 million contract, with $18.5 guaranteed.

That contract, however, doesn’t show an outpouring of confidence in the long-term. The guaranteed money is paid mostly in the first season, and if he falters in his second season, the Bears aren’t on the hook salary cap-wise.

Backing up Glennon are Mark “Butt Fumble” Sanchez and Connor Shaw, players who don’t exactly seem like game-changers. Because of that, many feel that the Bears will go with another quarterback as their Plan B.

Glennon isn’t concerned with that now.

"(T)hat’s not really a concern of mine right now. I’m just focusing on getting started."

Glennon already started throwing to some of his new receivers, among them Cameron Meredith and Markus Wheaton.

"There was a handful of guys that we got together, and then we went to a Bulls game. It was a good time to meet everybody, start developing some chemistry on and off the field. The introductions are over with. I know them all, I know them a little personally, and then just a little bit of chemistry. It’s not a whole lot but at least we got familiar with each other a bit on the field as well."

Glennon gets rave reviews from his former Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter, who compared him to Matt Ryan. In fact, the Bucs were prepared to make Glennon the highest-paid backup in the NFL. Also, Mark Dominik, the general manager who drafted Glennon in Tampa, compared him to Joe Flacco.

Of course, comparisons and potential mean nothing. What he does on the field determines his fate in Chicago. He is eager to show his skills as a bona fide starter and wants to be the guy who helps lead the Chicago Bears back to their winning ways.
