The Chicago Bears make an extremely interesting series of moves in a recent three-round 2017 NFL Mock Draft.

Who will the Chicago Bears land in the 2017 NFL Draft? We will know the answer to that question sooner, rather than later as the draft is now less than two weeks away. There may not be a team in football who the 2017 NFL Draft is more important for. The Bears went 3-13 last season and decided to build through the draft instead of free agency. While that is typically the right plan of attack, it will be interesting to see if the Bears

While that is typically the right plan of attack, it will be interesting to see if the Bears can add significant impact talent like they did last year. If Ryan Pace and company do not hit on multiple picks in the upcoming draft, the Chicago Bears are going to be in trouble.

With the draft inching closer, the mock draft season is in full effect. We are starting to see creative takes on the draft, including many mock drafts involving trade predictions. It is even more difficult to predict trades than it is to predict draft picks, but it is still a fun practice where we can learn more about possible scenarios.

R.J. White of CBS Sports put together his take on a 2017 NFL Mock Draft with a three-round version. It was an interesting mock that was full of trade activity. The Cleveland Browns selected Myles Garrett with the first overall pick and then put together a significant package to trade up to the second overall pick for quarterback Mitch Trubisky. This gave the San Francisco 49ers a ton of draft capital both this year and next and put the Chicago Bears on the clock at number three.

Third Overall Pick

More from Chicago Bears

Like we are starting to see with regularity in mock drafts, the Bears took LSU safety Jamal Adams with the third overall pick. Adams is a fantastic defensive enforcer who would immediately make the Bears defense much better. However, the selection of Adams would not even be the Bears’ most notable pick.

A Big Trade Up

Instead of waiting around until the second round, the Chicago Bears traded back into the first later in White’s mock. They traded up from the 36th overall pick to number 31 with the Atlanta Falcons. The Bears give up the later of two fourth-round picks for the trade up and selected quarterback DeShone Kizer. Here is what White had to say about the trade and the pick:

"With the 49ers showing interest in Kizer and now owning the first two picks of the second round in this mock, the Bears can’t afford to wait if they decide the Notre Dame quarterback is their future franchise passer. Kizer has great size and a strong arm but needs time to develop into an NFL starter. The Bears can afford to groom him to eventually take over, with Mike Glennon signed to be their 2017 starter. The Falcons have only six picks in the draft, so they would likely welcome the opportunity to land another fourth-rounder."

This would be an extremely interesting move. I personally have Deshaun Watson as my favorite quarterback in this draft, but Kizer is certainly an enticing prospect. He shows a big arm, ideal size and great mobility for the position. Kizer struggled with consistency in 2016 but his 2015 season was as impressive as any season of a quarterback in this class.

Kizer is undoubtedly a bit of a project but he is the perfect guy to bring in and groom behind Mike Glennon. Trading up and taking him as the quarterback of the future would be a strong move by the Bears organization. I like this scenario a lot.

Third Round Playmaker

Landing Kizer and Adams with their first two picks is huge, but the Bears swing for the fences again in the third round. With the 67th overall pick of this mock draft, the Chicago Bears land offensive playmaker Curtis Samuel.

Samuel does not have a set NFL position. He could be looked at as a wide receiver or a running back. But one thing is for sure, this guy can absolutely fly. Samuel has elite speed, quickness and overall explosive ability. He is an extremely interesting offensive weapon who the Bears could use in a variety of ways.

Samuel is far from a traditional receiver but he can make plays on the outside. He would also be an ideal change of pace back to compliment Jordan Howard. The obvious comparison to Samuel is Tyreek Hill of the Kansas City Chiefs. Just think of how much more explosive the Bears offensive can be with a guy like that running around and making plays all over the field.

The Bears did give up a valuable fourth-round pick to land Kizer, and that is not ideal for a rebuilding team. You’d like to see them get as many opportunities as possible to find impact players. That being said, it is hard to complain about this three-round scenario.

If this plays out, the Chicago Bears undoubtedly become a much better team through the early portion of the 2017 NFL Draft.
