In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears should want to pair Leonard Floyd with a young and talented edge rusher. Tyus Bowser should be well represented on their draft board.

One day less until the 2017 NFL Draft starts, one more prospect here at Da Windy City. Today, we look at a strong option for the Chicago Bears as a young partner to pair with Leonard Floyd at the outside linebacker position.

Tyus Bowser, a linebacker out of Houston is an intriguing prospect. When this draft season started everyone overlooked Bowser and his good abilities, but that changed after a good showing at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

He was a top performer in all drills for his positions. Bowser ran a 4.65-second 40-yard dash, jumped 37.5 inches in the vertical jump, 127 inches in the board jump and finalizing with a real good 6.75 second at the three-cone drill. He did all of that listed at 6-foot-3, 247 pounds. Yeah, the dude is a freak.

Bowser opened some eyes and I am sure that scouts went back to his tape because his stock jumped from a fringe fourth round prospect to a  late first in a matter of days. In my opinion, he has the talent to get drafted late in the first day, but being taken in the second round is more likely.

Don’t be surprised if the Bears make a trade down in the second if they want Bowser. The 36th overall pick would be a good value for him, but teams keep seeming to overlook this guy. A trade down for Bowser would resemble the moves the Bears made last year to draft Cody Whitehair after making a couple of trade downs in the second round.

The Bears did not publicly meet with Bowser in this draft process, but that does not mean they won’t look his way. His 22.5 sacks and 137 tackles are enough to at least have him on their radar. Those combine numbers would make anybody take a second look.
