For the first time in this mock draft, the Chicago Bears make a selection with their own original pick. Early in the third round, Penn State wide receiver Chris Godwin stood out as a strong choice for the Bears.

Godwin is a fast and explosive wide receiver who has an impressive overall ability as a pass catcher. The Penn State product also shows incredible route running skills, consistently seeming to find the open space in the defense. Short-area quickness is also an obvious strength of Godwin’s on the field.

On top of being quick and fast, Godwin has nice size and power for the position. Standing 6-foot-1, 209 pounds, he has a great build for the position and will go up and fight for the ball with the best of them. Godwin is also a powerful runner with the ball in his hands who can create yards after the catch.

With impressive balance and body control, Godwin is also a major threat along the sideline and in the end zone. Make no mistake about it, he is a legitimate playmaker at the wide receiver position. Godwin probably does not have the upside to be a dynamic number one option, but he is an extremely well-rounded receiver who can certainly play a major role.

Consistency is key here as the Bears find a strong target for their young quarterback.
