Another 2017 NFL Draft Target for the Chicago Bears. Wide receiver position may not be the primary target for the Bears, but they could still look to add a good player like Chad Hansen on the third day of the draft.

The 2017 NFL Draft is getting near. In two weeks we will start to find out which players will come to play for the Chicago Bears. We at Da Windy City continue to look at possible targets, today we look to California wide receiver Chad Hansen.

In free agency, the Bears lost their primary wide receiver as Alshon Jeffery went to the Philadelphia Eagles. Because of that, the front office went and brought some pieces who could replace him in Kendall Wright and Markus Wheaton, not to mention Rueben Randle who was signed before Jeffery departure.

But that doesn’t exclude the Bears from bringing another option in the draft. They may not choose one in the early round, but could very well go after one in the third day of the 2017 NFL Draft. That’s where Hansen could get picked.

Hansen wasn’t a high rated player coming out of high school, so he didn’t get any offers besides from Idaho State. In one year there, he started 11 games where he had 45 catches for 501 yards and three touchdowns. Prior to the next season, Hansen transferred to California and had to sit out.

In 2015, he did not make much of impact for quarterback Jared Goff, but when Goff went to the NFL and Davis Webb became the starter, he played really well. Hansen had 1249 receiving yards and 11 TDs in 10 games played last season.

Hansen has a good combination of size and speed. He is listed at 6-foot-2, 202 pounds and ran a 4.52 seconds 40-yard dash, a good mark to someone of his size. He also had a nice 3-cone drill with 6.74 seconds, showing that he could be an effect player in this league.

Hansen may never be a top 10 receiver in this league, but has a good chance to be a reliable option to help the quarterback stretch the field and drawing coverage towards him. He could be a good target for the start of the day 3, as he may turn to be a 4th or 5th round pick.

If the Chicago Bears want to add good competition for the position as they search for a new number one receiver, Hansen should be in play. He is a strong target as they can fill more pressing needs early in the 2017 NFL Draft and grab Hansen later.
