Chicago Bears: Logical 2017 NFL Draft Targets at Each Position
Linebackers
Reuben Foster, Alabama: 6-foot-0, 229 pounds, Projected Round: 1
In a draft class loaded with defensive talent, Reuben Foster may be one of the best players. Foster is an absolute stud at the linebacker position, showing the ability to dominate both against the run and the pass.
Foster shows a ton of physicality all of the time. He will hit a ball carrier or receiver with bone-jarring authority. Foster is also an extremely fast and athletic player who can range from sideline-to-sideline. He is a perfect linebacker in today’s wide open NFL.
The Bears invested a lot into their inside linebacker situation last offseason. However, Foster is the read deal and nobody knows what really to expect out of Danny Trevathan going forward. Foster could be an option with the third overall pick and I really keep an eye out for him if the Bears trade down some.
Anthony Walker Jr., Northwestern: 6-foot-1, 238 pounds, Projected Round: 3-4
I just don’t see the Chicago Bears putting too much priority into the inside linebacker position. If they love Foster, I could certainly see them pulling that trigger but they have so many other needs worth addressing. That being said, do not be surprised if local guy Anthony Walker Jr. becomes a target.
Walker is not the most athletic linebacker but he is a strong and reliable guy who always seems to be in position. Walker would be a nice mid-round target for the Bears.
