Edge Rushers

Solomon Thomas, Stanford: 6-foot-3, 273 pounds, Projected Round: 1

The Bears took edge rusher Leonard Floyd in the top ten last year, but I would not be surprised to see them take another edge rusher early this season. Solomon Thomas is a quick and athletic defender who primarily put his hand on the ground in college.

However, he appears to have the necessary burst to play as an edge rusher for the Bears. Thomas has a great combination of power and athleticism that can be difficult to stop the run or the pass. Frankly, the thought of Thomas pairing with Floyd should really scare opposing quarterbacks.

Tim Williams, Alabama: 6-foot-3, 244 pounds, Projected Round: 2

Tim Williams is certainly an interesting edge prospect to watch in the 2017 NFL Draft. Williams was a dominant rusher at Alabama who also played well against the run. He shows a great first step and fantastic overall speed and athleticism off of the edge.

Williams has a chance to be an A+ pass rusher at the next level. It is never easy to find that kind of upside at the position.

Ejuan Price, Pittsburgh: 5-foot-1, 241 pounds, Projected Round: 6

He does not look much like a pass rusher, but Ejuan Price can certainly get after the quarterback. Many will point to his squatty frame, but Price is simply an athletic guy who has a relentless motor. Anybody could use a pure pass rusher like him and I’d like to see the Bears take a chance on him as a situational rusher.
