The Chicago White Sox will start their nine-game road trip Tuesday in Cleveland.

The Chicago White Sox finished opening week and their home stand with a 2-3 record. Although the White Sox didn’t look stellar beyond any means, they still found a way to get two wins during their home stand. For the most part, the Sox struggled to hit the ball and come through with runners in scoring position.

Jose Quintana got rocked on Opening Day for the Sox and would pitch better Sunday against the Twins. It was much of the same story as last season with Quintana on the mound. He would pitch well and get absolutely no run support from his offense.

Upcoming Road Trip

The White Sox start a three-game series Tuesday against the reigning American League Champion Cleveland Indians. Many have picked the Indians to return to the World Series again this year and a lot have chosen them to take home the trophy as well.

With that being said, the Indians started their season off on the right foot with a sweep of the Texas Rangers. They then would turn around and get swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Cleveland is clearly the better team and will most likely sweep the three-game series against the Sox. What I want to see is how well the young players deal with playing against a far superior team.

After Cleveland, the White Sox will travel up to Minnesota and play the Twins again. In my opinion, the Twins are a very underrated team and have a very talented pitching staff that could lead them to more wins than most project. The White Sox need to go into Minnesota and play well and get some momentum going forward.

Chicago will end the road trip with three games in New York against the Yankees. This doesn’t appear to be a very easy road trip for a team that is struggling to find its identity early on in the season. Chicago will have to pitch lights out and hit the ball in order to walk away with wins against any of these three teams.

It is my hope that the White Sox will figure out how to hit during this road trip and some of the young players will help lead this team to some wins. In my opinion, if the White Sox can come out of this road trip with a .500 record that should be considered a victory for this young team.

As a White Sox fan its hard to not get frustrated with losing, but we must stand behind this team and support them. The pitching staff has been good to start the season. If the offense can get some hits under their belts maybe that will help string together some wins. And some confidence moving forward.
