The Chicago Blackhawks will open the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a first-round matchup against familiar foes Nashville Predators.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators will yet again face off against each other in the playoffs. Game one will take place Thursday night at the United Center in Chicago.

The Blackhawks come into the playoffs as the top team in the Western Conference and are looking to add their sixth Stanley Cup in franchise history. We all know how dominant the Blackhawks have been since the start of the decade, however, I don’t think a lot of fans expected them to be this competitive for so many years. With three Stanley Cups since the 2010 season its safe to say that Chicago has a dynasty in the Blackhawks.

Nashville is coming into the playoffs as the second Wild Card team from the Western Conference. With that being said, the Hawks will have their work cut out for them. Chicago and Nashville are very familiar with each other and have faced each other many times before in the playoffs. I look for this series to be a battle between two very well deserving teams.

More from Da Windy City

Chicago and Nashville faced off five times during the regular season with the Hawks going 4-1 during those five games.

  • Game One: Thursday, April 13th at 7 pm in Chicago
  • Game Two: Saturday, April 15th at 7 pm in Chicago

  • Game Four: Thursday, April 20th TBD in Nashville
  • Game Five: Saturday, April 22nd TBD In Chicago* If necessary
  • Game Six: Monday, April 24th TBD in Nashville* If necessary
  • Game Seven: Wednesday, April 26th TBD in Chicago* If necessary

The Blackhawks will have home ice throughout the Western Conference Playoffs.

Prediction

Like I said before this won’t be an easy series for Chicago but their skill level and star players will ultimately be more than Nashville can handle. I have the Blackhawks winning this series 4-2.

If Chicago advances to the second round they will most likely play division rival Minnesota Wild barring a huge upset.
