The latest 2017 NFL Mock Draft from CBS Sports has the Chicago Bears selecting North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the No. 3 overall selection.

The time has come to let the secret out of the bag.

NFL Mock Drafts really hold no value between September and April. During that period of time, mock drafts are used for the sole purpose of driving up page views and putting more money in the pockets of said writer. (The Easter Bunny isn’t real, either)

But, there is a very limited time in which NFL Mock Drafts do hold some substance. That time is generally when there are two weeks remaining before the actual draft. With the 2017 NFL Draft taking place on April 28, two weeks from this Thursday, now is the time when you should actually be paying attention to mock drafts and not just increasing the wallet size of writers like me. Reason being this is generally the time when teams have finalized their grades on draft prospects and have an idea of who they will be selecting with their draft selections.

As such, the latest 2017 NFL Mock Draft from CBS’ senior draft expert Dane Brugler saw the Bears make a surprising selection with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

"3. Chicago BearsMitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina: Yes, Mike Glennon is the (well-paid) No. 1, but adding Trubisky gives Chicago a young, talented passer to groom and take over as the starter, making Glennon a (well-paid) bridge quarterback."

Brugler was mocked on social media for his selection but had information to back up his prediction of Trubisky to the Bears.

The idea of the Bears selecting a quarterback with the No. 3 overall selection should not be laughed off or discredited. Mike Glennon is nothing more than a bridge quarterback for the Bears. Glennon is simply the quarterback that the Bears’ front office had to give head coach John Fox to appease the veteran coach’s win-now desire. But that did not change that goal of general manager Ryan Pace. Pace is looking for long-term success and he plans on finding that with a drafted quarterback.

Next: Does Mike Glennon alter the Chicago Bears' draft plans?

Therefore, if Pace feels that Trubisky is the quarterback to enable long-term success at the quarterback position for the Bears, then the North Carolina product will be the selection for the Bears with the No. 3 overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft.
