After a two-hour rain delay, the Chicago Cubs raised their 2016 World Series Championship banner prior to their home opener on Monday night. Watch it play out.

The Chicago Cubs waited for 108 years, so what are another two hours? The Cubs hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers to open their 2017 home slate at Wrigley Field on Monday. However, the game is not really the star of the show.

Prior to the home opener, the Cubs raised their 2016 World Series Championship banner. The two-hour rain delay put a bit of a damper on the start of the evening, but the banner raising ceremony was fantastic. See the iconic moment for yourself:

If that doesn’t give you chills, you better check for a pulse. Seeing each player help raise the banner just like how the 2016 Chicago Cubs won the World Series as a complete team was incredible.

After the banner raising, the World Series trophy made an appearance. Anthony Rizzo led the Cubs back onto the field from the outfield bleachers, carrying the beautiful trophy with him.

So much swag indeed.

The 2016 season was incredible, but these Chicago Cubs are undoubtedly here to stay, and they know it. The 2017 team is arguably better than last season and that is without taking into account natural progression from their incredible young players. Good thing the Cubs put up four flag poles around the legendary Wrigley Field scoreboard because they might need them all.

After the rain delay, the Cubs and Dodgers will play a game that will likely go into the early hours of the morning. However, they do have Tuesday off. On Wednesday, the two teams will get back together for the second game of this three-game series. However, once again, the game may be the secondary draw of the night.

On Wednesday night, the Cubs will receive their World Series Championship rings. Even better, David Ross will throw out the first pitch. That will undoubtedly be another must-watch even.
