Washington cornerback Kevin King is another interesting 2017 NFL Draft target for the Chicago Bears.

The 2017 NFL Draft is going to be here before we know it. In order to prepare, we at Da Windy City are profiling a different possible 2017 NFL Draft target for the Chicago Bears each and every day. Up next is Washington cornerback Kevin King.

Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is known for loving size and length at the cornerback position. No cornerback in the 2017 NFL draft class fits that profile better than Kevin King.

At the combine, King measured at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds with an arm length of 32 inches. King shows ideal size for the cornerback position and uses his length extremely well to disrupt opposing receivers.

King’s size from the combine was impressive, but so were his workout numbers. He ran faster than expected, putting up a 4.43-second 40-yard dash. On top of that, he was a top performer at the cornerback position in the vertical jump (39.5 inches), three-cone drill (6.56 seconds), 20-yard shuttle (3.89 seconds) and the 60-yard shuttle (11.14 seconds). His impressive performance at the combine shows King’s high-level athleticism and quickness at the position.

Those skills translate well to the field as well. King has the short-area quickness to compete with the quicker receivers at the next level and his size coupled with his athleticism makes him a big-time jump ball weapon as well. King excels with the ball in the air, winning a lot of 50/50 battles.

Despite his strong 40-time, King does not really show good long speed on tape. Getting beat deep may be an issue for him at the next level. That being said, he is a strong boundary cornerback who can beat up a receiver at the line of scrimmage.

King is an extremely interesting cornerback prospect who has some really nice upside at the next level. Cornerback is an area of need for the Bears and King is the kind of corner who they typically target.

Selecting him at the top of the second round may be a bit of a reach, but I would not be surprised to see the Bears target him in the third or in a trade down scenario. A talented prospect who fits their defense, there is a lot to like about King as a cornerback in Chicago.
