2017 NFL Draft: Chicago Bears Complete Seven-Round Mock Draft
Utah offensive tackle Garett Bolles is an extremely interesting 2017 NFL Draft prospect. Bolles was a fantastic pass protector at Utah last season. Simply put, he was able to consistently keep defenders off of his quarterback and was no slouch as a run blocker. What more could you want?
Bolles has legitimate first round talent and his elite athleticism stands out in a less than stellar offensive tackle class. That being said, there are some obvious issues as well.
Bolles was a fantastic performer as a First-Team All-Pac 12 selection last season. He was undoubtedly one of the best left tackles in all of college football. However, he only played one year of major college football. Bolles was a JUCO transfer who dominated for Utah and wanted to make the most out of his opportunity while he could. His skills are great, but many will wonder if Bolles is a flash in the pan because of his lack of longevity.
On top of that, Bolles will be 25-years-old before the regular season. He still has plenty of prime years ahead of him, but Bolles is one of the oldest players in this draft. No matter how you look at it, that is not a positive.
There are some concerns, but when it comes down to it, Garett Bolles is one of the best offensive tackles in the 2017 NFL Draft. He would be a massive improvement over Bobby Massie at right tackle immediately and has the athleticism and overall pass protection skills to shine at left tackle later in his career.
The Bears find great protection for Mike Glennon here with their early second-round pick.
