Chicago Cubs All-Time Leaders in Home Runs
Another Cubs legend comes in here at number three. Billy Williams is probably the best natural hitter in the history of the franchise. Williams had a smooth and beautiful left-handed swing that earned him the nickname “Sweet-Swinging Billy Williams.”
Williams hit .296/.364/.503 throughout his Cubs career. His 392 home runs are the third-most in the history of the franchise, as are his 2,510 career hits.
Williams played sparingly with the Cubs in 1959 and 1960 but did not receive a full-time opportunity until 1961. He hit 25 home runs that season and took home National League Rookie of the Year honors. Starting with those 25 home runs in 1961, Williams hit at least 20 home runs for 13 consecutive seasons.
He was a ridiculously consistent power hitter which is why he ranks so high on this list. Williams’ best season came in 1972 when he won the National League Batting Title, hitting .333 on the year. He posted an impressive .606 slugging percentage and hit 37 home runs and 122 RBI.
Williams was an incredible offensive player who is one of the all-time greats in the history of the franchise. No surprise to see him towards the top of this list.
