Chicago Cubs All-Time Leaders in Home Runs
Back to modern times as former Chicago Cubs third baseman, Aramis Ramirez, comes in at number six on this list. The Cubs acquired Ramirez in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 2003 season, giving them some much-needed punch in the middle of their order.
Ramirez was an important part of that 2003 team and ended up being one of the centerpieces of the Cubs lineup for the next eight seasons. During his time with the Cubs, Ramirez hit .294/.356/.531 with 239 home runs. He did that in only 1,124 at-bats, fewer than any other slugger ahead of him on this list.
Ramirez’ best statistical offensive season came in 2004 when he hit .318/.373/.578 with 36 home runs and 103 RBI. He then went on to hit 31 home runs for the Cubs in only 463 at-bats in 2005 and 38 home runs in 2006. Ramirez also won the Hank Aaron Award for the National League’s most outstanding offensive performer in 2008 and a Silver Slugger in 2011.
The former Cubs slugger struggled with injuries during his time in Chicago and was never a strong defender at third base. That being said, he was an incredible offensive weapon who stabilized the middle of the Cubs order for many years.
Aramis Ramirez is undoubtedly one of the best power hitters in the history of the Chicago Cubs franchise.
