I have to admit that I fell in love with Wilson’s game film. He is fearless, and he plays a physical game. Wilson is the epitome of a Bears defensive player. When he takes the field, he acts like he owns it. This is the type of player coaches really love.

Wilson volunteers to take on the opposing team’s best receiver. He has the ability to measure up his opponent and figure out how to stop him. He doesn’t own elite speed, but he can maul a receiver at the line of scrimmage, thus limiting their use of speed against him.

In addition to the slew of injuries the Bears cornerback unit dealt with in 2016 was the attitude of 2014 first-round draft pick Kyle Fuller. He had a simple scope of the knee that wasn’t too serious according to team doctors. What ended up happening, however, was that he missed the entire season. That brought in criticism from defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and head coach John Fox. He is on thin ice. The Bears already showed they aren’t shy to cut high draft picks who aren’t performing by cutting Ferguson. Fuller could be next if he doesn’t have a good 2017 campaign.

The Bears did sign Prince Amukamara, but it was just a one-year deal. They need someone long-term, and Wilson could be that guy. His athleticism is off the charts. He can flip his hips smoothly, and he has great feet.

As I mentioned, Wilson is what an old-school Bears player should be — fearless, physical, and confident bordering on cockiness. The Chicago Bears cannot pass on him if he’s available.
