The Chicago Cubs will play the St. Louis Cardinals to help open the 2017 MLB season. Here’s all the info you need to watch the game.

The Chicago Cubs will begin to defend their World Series championship against their division rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals. This has always been an exciting rivalry, but it has been taken to the next level the past couple of years.

The Cardinals have beat up on the Cubs for years, but things have changed. In 2015, the Wild Card winning Cubs took down a Cardinals team that won 100 games in the National League Division Series. The Cubs went on to lose in the National League Championship series, but that series win over the Cardinals was huge.

As you know, the Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016, breaking the longest championship drought in the history of sports. The Cardinals went 86-76 and did not make the postseason. The times when the Cardinals would beat up the Cubs with regularity are over. It is a new era and the Chicago Cubs are in charge.

That being said, the Cardinals do not want to give up their crown in this rivalry. The Cardinals will look to get back on top of their rivals this season, beginning with the first game of the year. Ace pitcher Carlos Martinez will take the mound for the home team Cardinals and he will be opposed by Cubs ace Jon Lester.
