What could the Chicago White Sox get in return from the St. Louis Cardinals for Jose Quintana?

The Chicago White Sox are expected to trade ace pitcher Jose Quintana and the St. Louis Cardinals have emerged as major players. I have thought that Quintana would ultimately end up a member of the Houston Astros, but Jon Heyman suggests that he could be heading to the Cardinals.

No one truly knows when Quintana will be dealt, but everyone knows the Sox are going to get a heck of a return. The Cardinals do not have the best farm system, but they do have enough talent to get a deal done. I am very interested in catcher Carson Kelly.

Beyond Kelly, the Cardinals may have some other pieces Rick Hahn could be interested in. Right-handed pitcher Luke Weaver and outfielder Harrison Bader are a couple of names to watch as this thing heats up. However, even those three pieces may not be enough. Weaver is seen as only a number three starter in the MLB. Which is good, but when you are trading away a bonafide ace, you expect more.

Bader has solid talent, but he is not great in any area of his game. Kelly is a defensive minded catcher who does not hit for a high average. This would be almost the opposite of already young catcher, Zack Collins.

What else could the Sox grab beyond those three guys? Well, Jack Flaherty is another right-handed pitcher who has a higher ceiling than Weaver. There is also shortstop Delvin Perez who has a great glove. If either one of those guys is added to the deal, I would think Hahn pulls the trigger.

Kolten Wong has been floated around in trade rumors, but it appears the Sox have no interest. Four or five prospects should be enough, but of course, the Sox will push for Alex Reyes. But let’s be honest, that is not happening. Any Quintana deal may not happen until the deadline, but here is what my ideal Quintana to St. Louis trade would look like:
