Sometimes great players come from small schools. The 2017 NFL Draft has some and tight end Adam Shaheen is one that you should want on the Chicago Bears

The 2017 NFL draft looms large and the Chicago Bears have several needs to address. The tight end position is one of those, the Bears need more than Zach Miller, especially after the departure of wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. That’s why Ashland’s Adam Shaheen is an intriguing prospect to look at.

You might not know where Ashland is or even not know that Ashland University had a football program. That’s one of the main reason Shaheen got overlook until now and had to climb the boards for this year draft.

He is a big player, listed as 6’6″ with 276 pounds and long arms and secure hands, Shaheen will be a great target in the NFL. The biggest upside to him is the opportunity to be a receiving tight end in a blocking tight end body. In the last two years, he caught 26 touchdowns on 127 receptions for 1,670 yards, settling Division II and school records along the way.

His blocking skill is not great, but they are not bad too, so with a good coaching he can improve, if that happens we might discuss in a few years if he deserves to be called an elite tight end. If he turns into n elite tight end while in a Bears’ uniform that would be great.

In my opinion, if Shaheen had played for the Michigan Wolverines he would be in a conversation for the first round and might challenge

O.J. Howard

for the label of being the best tight end in this great class for the position.

Luckily for the Chicago Bears, Shaheen is being pointed as a third or fourth round prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft, so if Shaheen is on Ryan Pace’s radar he should be easy to get at either the start of the third or fourth round.
