Chicago Bears: Reviewing Recent Seven-Round 2017 NFL Mock Draft
Which players do the Chicago Bears land in this recent seven-round 2017 NFL Mock Draft?
The madness that is NFL free agency is winding down and it is officially time to dig deep into the 2017 NFL Draft for the Chicago Bears. After a 3-13 2016 season, the Bears are in great position to add impact talent in the upcoming draft.
Luke Easterling recently put together an interesting seven-round mock draft over at Draft Wire. Easterling made selections for all NFL teams throughout the seven rounds, but we are obviously going to focus on who he places with the Chicago Bears.
Up first is safety Jamal Adams. In this mock draft, the Bears snag Adams with the third overall selection after edge rushers Myles Garrett and Solomon Thomas are taken first and second respectively.
Adams is an extremely aggressive safety prospect who has a ton of upside at the next level. He primarily played in-the-box at LSU, but do not discount Adams’ ability to cover. He is a quick and athletic safety who can play the deep middle of the field. Adams also shows impressive natural man-to-man coverage ability.
Adding Adams into the mix would immediately give the Bears a much-needed elite-level playmaker in the secondary.
In the second round, the Bears end up with Utah offensive tackle Garett Bolles. Bolles is one of the premier tackle prospects in this draft, but the class is not exactly loaded at the position. He is a tough and aggressive run blocker who would undoubtedly create holes for Jordan Howard in the run game.

Bolles also shows nice athleticism and natural pass protection ability. He would be an immediate upgrade over Bobby Massie at right tackle and also has long-term left tackle upside.
The Chicago Bears end up with cornerback Jalen “Teez” Tabor in the third round of this mock draft. Tabor was once considered a first round prospect and he shows that kind of ability on tape. However, he has not tested well and there are legitimate concerns whether he is fast enough to play cornerback at the next level.
Tabor shows incredible natural coverage ability, especially in off-man coverage. His lack of speed is a concern, but Tabor would be worth the risk in the third round.
With their pair of fourth-round selections, the Bears land Texas A&M wide receiver Josh Reynolds and Toledo tight end Michael Roberts. Reynolds is a big and athletic receiver who has a ton of upside at the next level. However, he is an extremely raw talent. At 6-foot-3, Reynolds’ size could help replace the departing Alshon Jeffery.
Roberts is a big and powerful tight end who is a capable receiver. He is not especially quick or athletic, but Roberts is a strong run blocker who catches the ball well. A solid addition here at an obvious position of need.
The Bears round out this seven-round mock draft with selections of Michigan linebacker Ben Gedeon in the fifth round and Toledo defensive lineman Treyvon Hester. Neither player has been on my radar much, but appear to be solid depth additions. Hester in particular, is interesting as an interior pass rusher.

As a whole, there is a lot to like here. The Chicago Bears added some elite talent at obvious positions of need. The lack of a quarterback is interesting and would be a mistake, but it is hard to argue with landing Adams, Bolles and Tabor in the first three rounds.
