Chicago Blackhawks Hold Off Canadiens: Recap, Highlights and More
The Chicago Blackhawks started off their three-game Canadian road trip with a huge victory over Montreal Tuesday night.
For the first two and a half periods, it was all Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks dominated Montreal in every sense of the game except for shots on goal. Cory Crawford yet again stood tall in net and came away with 40 saves. Crawford has two games in a row with 40 or more saves. It is definitely looking like Crawford is getting back into championship form.
The Blackhawks opened up the scoring with a goal from Patrick Kane, his 31st of the season. Kane would also pick up an assist on a goal scored by Artemi Panarin 47 seconds into the third period. Kane is on an absolute tear as of late and is really showing the NHL that he deserves to be in talks for MVP yet again.
The Blackhawks would also see a contribution from newly acquired Johnny Oduya. Oduya would net his first goal since returning to the Hawks. One thing that can’t go unseen from tonight’s game is the fact that Artem Anisimov was helped off the ice after a huge hit in the first period. All eyes will be on this injury as it could play a huge factor in the Blackhawks playoff run.
Highlights
Three Stars
- Patrick Kane- With his 31st goal of the season and 44th assist, Kane leaves tonight’s game as my number one star. Kane is playing amazing hockey right now and doesn’t seem to look like he is stopping anytime soon.
- Corey Crawford- With 40 saves tonight Crawford completes his second straight with 40 or more saves and is starting to look like the Crawford we are all use to seeing in between the pipes.
- Johnny Oduya- Finally getting that first goal under his belt since rejoining the Hawks, Oduya has earned my third star of the night.
