Chicago Bears Daily 2017 NFL Draft Prospect: Ohio State Cornerback Gareon Conley
Continuing to take a look at Chicago Bears 2017 NFL Draft targets for the Chicago Bears. Up next is Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley.
The Chicago Bears have arguably the worst secondary situation in the entire NFL. They lack serious talent at both cornerback and safety. They have slightly addressed the situation in free agency, but the Bears need to find long-term secondary additions.
Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley would be a perfect target for the Chicago Bears. Conley is a long and aggressive cornerback who shows fantastic natural coverage ability. He uses his length extremely well in man coverage, consistently blanketing his man on the outside.
Conley shows strong press coverage skills and the awareness to play zone at a high level. He is a fast and athletic cornerback who also shows impressive ball skills. Conley does struggle with technique at times, but he is still an impressive overall player who is going to be a strong cover corner at the next level.
Conley would immediately become the best cornerback on the Chicago Bears.
When to Target Conley
The Bears will not have Conley on their radar with the third overall pick. He simply is not that kind of talent. Perhaps two of his secondary teammates at Ohio State (cornerback Marshon Lattimore and safety Malik Hooker), but Conley is not a top-five player in this draft.
However, he is an extremely talented cornerback who would be a perfect fit for the team if he falls out of the first round. Conley is probably more likely than not to be a first round pick, but it is far from guaranteed in this loaded cornerback class.

If he happens to fall out of the first round, Gareon Conley would be an absolutely perfect choice for the Chicago Bears in the early second round. Adding him to the mix would immediately give the Bears a big-time cornerback prospect to help build their secondary around. Conley is a talented guy who could come in and make an immediate impact.
