Chicago White Sox ace Jose Quintana had a strong outing against team USA to open up the World Baseball Classic.

Chicago White Sox ace pitcher Jose Quintana started off his 2017 campaign with a no-decision against team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Quintana looked in mid-season form as he pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up only one hit and striking out four USA players.

Quintana didn’t let the pressure of facing team USA in a major tournament get to him. He went out and did his thing. White Sox fans are used to seeing Quintana get no decisions. The Chicago White Sox always seem to struggle to score runs with Quintana on the mound. Friday night was no different as Columbia scored runs, but not enough to topple the powerful USA squad.

The U.S. team is extremely talented and for Quintana to go out there and record one hit over five innings is something he should be proud of. Obviously, he didn’t get a win for his country, but the White Sox ace put Columbia in the perfect position to win.

Maybe now Quintana will start to get some credit as a top pitcher in Major League Baseball. Rick Hahn had to love what he saw Friday, as teams are still rumored to want to trade for Quintana. And what better way for other teams to see what Quintana brings to the table than on a huge stage pitching against team USA?

Quintana will surely be sought after all season barring injury. And strong performances in the WBC will only add to the trade rumors and talk that has been going on since the winter meetings. If the White Sox are truly trying to shop Quintana, which I believe they are, patience is the key. Quintana is too good of a talent to just give away. Let him show his skills on the mound for all to see and make the other teams come to you, Rick Hahn.
