Checking the Chicago Bears’ performance in Matt Miller’s recent seven-round 2017 NFL Mock Draft.

The Chicago Bears could go in many different directions in the 2017 NFL Draft. This team has multiple needs on both sides of the ball and must be aggressive in filling them. With the combine over, we have more information on these players than we ever will. Which guys are specific targets for the Bears?

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report goes seven complete rounds in his post-combine 2017 NFL Mock Draft. Myles Garrett and Leonard Fournette go one and two in this mock draft, followed by the Chicago Bears taking North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Here is what Miller said about the Bears taking Trubisky:

"Trubisky has the best accuracy in the 2017 class, and while he won’t have the best 40 time or strongest arm, NFL evaluators I’ve spoken to in the last week raved about his leadership and football IQ. If general manager Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox see those same traits, they should be all over Trubisky as the new franchise quarterback."

I am on team Deshaun Watson if the Bears decide to go with a quarterback with the third overall pick. That being said, the more I watch Trubisky, the more enamored I am with him as a prospect. The lack of playing time still concerns me, but Trubisky is a smooth and accurate quarterback who undoubtedly has a career at the next level. If the Bears decide that he is their guy of the future, I would have no issue with them taking Trubisky.

After snagging Trubisky in the first round, the Bears immediately go to the defensive side of the ball. With their early second round selection, Ryan Pace and company land Washington safety Budda Baker.

More from Chicago Bears

Aside from quarterback, defensive back is the Bears’ single biggest need on the roster. Baker is an elite coverage safety who would immediately make the entire defensive unit better.

In the third round, the Chicago Bears snag Baker’s running-mate in Washington cornerback Kevin King. King is an extremely long and athletic cornerback who fits the profile of a Vic Fangio corner extremely well. King is a bit raw in coverage, but he is an athletic freak who has massive upside at the next level.

With their first fourth round selection, the Bears take Houston linebacker, Tyus Bowser. Bowser is an extremely quick and powerful edge rusher who would make an immediate impact for the Bears. Their pass defense undoubtedly gets better with these last three picks.

With their other fourth round selection, the Bears get Trubisky some help. Josh Reynolds is a big and athletic wide receiver who has massive upside at the next level. Reynolds is far from a sure-thing, but he would be an interesting prospect to see grow along side of Trubisky.

The Chicago Bears finished this mock draft by taking Utah cornerback Brian Allen in the fifth round and Alabama wide receiver Ar’Darius Stewart in the seventh. Both are interesting athletes at obvious positions of need for the Bears.

Overall, a strong haul for the Chicago Bears in this seven-round mock draft. My only concern here would be taking a franchise quarterback and then not surrounding him with enough help. That being said, the Bears clearly improved their roster on both sides of the ball. Extremely impressive haul of talent.
