The Chicago Bears are betting favorites to land New England Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Will there be disappointment if the Bears can’t land Garoppolo?

If national reports and betting odds are to be believed, the Chicago Bears have found their starting quarterback for 2017 and beyond.

Over the course of the past two weeks, there has been an overwhelming amount of reports that have linked the Bears to New England Patriots’ backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The first report came the week of the Super Bowl and revealed that acquiring Garoppolo was the Bears’ top priority this off-season. A second report surfaced this week that indicated that the Bears were ready to move on from Cutler and replace him with Garoppolo.

More from Chicago Bears

Given the growing connection between Garoppolo and the Bears, Chicago is now considered to be the favorite to land Tom Brady’s understudy this off-season.

It seems almost expected that the Bears will acquire Garoppolo at some point this off-season. Though, with expectation comes disappointment.

Will there be disappointment if the Bears fail to land Garoppolo?

Garoppolo is everything that the Bears are looking for in their next franchise quarterback. Garoppolo was a second round draft pick. Not only is Garoppolo already developed but he did so behind the greatest quarterback to ever play in the NFL in Brady. And, Garoppolo is only 25-years old.

Garoppolo could very well be the best quarterback available this off-season given what the Bears are looking for at the position. Clemson’s DeShaun Watson, Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer and North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky are all intriguing quarterback prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft but they may not be ready to adhere to the label of a franchise quarterback in the NFL.
