The Chicago Bulls are in desperate need of change and that change needs to occur now.

Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg called the team’s 100-88 loss to the Miami Heat the worst game they’ve played all year.

Though, it’s not a surprise that the Bulls were lifeless on Friday night. After all, the 48 hours that preceded the game were filled with drama. In other words, the aftermath of the Rajon Rondo calling out Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade after the two superstars criticized their teammates earlier this week.

Bulls’ general manager Gar Forman was upset over the fact that the team did not keep their issues in-house. The result of Forman being upset was Wade and Butler being benched to start the game on Friday and also fined. Rondo was also fined by the team.

But, let’s be honest. A benching to start the game and a fine is nothing more than a slap on the wrist to Butler and Wade. The tension is not going anywhere until the Bulls make some much needed changes.

The front office changes can wait until the off-season and allow the team to completely reset. But, the one change that needs to happen this instant is the firing of Hoiberg.

Regardless of where you stand on veteran players trying to control the team, the one thing that is clear is that Hoiberg is in over his head.

The reason why the Bulls’ drama leaked into the public is because Hoiberg has no control over the locker room. The inmates are running he asylum. While comparing teams in two different sports is often flawed, this current Bulls’ team has very similar look to the Chicago Bears’ team of 2014. Then Bears’ head coach Marc Trestman lost control of the team and what resulted was the Bears becoming the laughing stock of the NFL.

Because of the drama over the course of the past week, the Bulls are walking the line between relevancy and becoming the laughing stock of the NBA. The only thing that can save the Bulls from crossing that line is firing Hoiberg.
