The Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons are set to play in the NFC Championship game on Sunday. Who Should Chicago Bears’ fans root for?

The Chicago Bears have not been in the playoffs since the 2010 season when they lost to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game.

Given the six years that it has been since that game, Bears fans have grown used to cheering for other teams during the playoffs. The question becomes who will Bears’ fans be rooting for on Sunday when the Packers and Green Bay Packers square off in the NFC Championship game.

More from Da Windy City

The Falcons were the second best team in the NFC this season and finished the season with a record of 11-5. Meanwhile, the Packers rode a six game winning streak at the end of the season to clinch the NFC North Division. The Packers also defeated the No. 1 seeded Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium last weekend.

On one end, there is the meatball factor. The factor that emphatically states that Bears’ fans should never root for the Packers no matter the circumstance. On the other end, there is the idea that Bears’ fans should be rooting for a team in their own division.

What’s the verdict?

On Sunday, when the Packers and Falcons are playing for the right to advance to the Super Bowl, Bears’ fans should be rooting for the Falcons.

Let’s face it, it’s tough being a Bears’ fan at this moment. The Bears have a head coach who is terrible when it comes to in-game management, a black hole at the quarterback position, and a secondary that is allergic to stopping the pass. The last thing that Bears’ fans need right now is for the Packers to win the Super Bowl. Bears’ fans know their problems and don’t need Packers’ fans telling us about them while celebrating their team’s Super Bowl victory.
