Chicago Bears 2017 draft position profiles: Cornerbacks
Cordrea Tankersley, Clemson (6-foot-0, 200 pounds)
Tankersley played against some of the top offenses. In fact, he played against Alabama for the championship in two straight seasons. That competition prepares him for the big games at the higher level.
Tankersley flirted with the idea of going pro after the 2015 but decided to come back. He had another good season, and ended the season winning the title.
Tankersley has the length and strength to perform well as a pro. His big body also allows him to play at safety. That is a flexibility that Vic Fangio covets in players.
According to CFBFilmroom.com, opposing quarterbacks targeted Tankersley and completed 20. He intercepted 4 of those passes and allowed just one touchdown.
Tankersley doesn’t have elite speed, but he has great instincts and fluid motion which allows him to change direction well. He fights for the ball well, but at times he grabs too much downfield. The referees on the pro level won’t allow him to get away with that.

With a few tweaks in his technique, Tankersley should become a successful corner in the NFL. He’ll fit in just fine with the Chicago Bears and make both the coaches and the fans happy with his production.
