Sidney Jones, Washington (6-foot-0, 190 pounds)

The Washington Huskies had a breakthrough season in 2016, making it to the College Football Playoffs. Their great defense was a big reason for their success. One of their top players, Sidney Jones, had a great season and is now on his way to the NFL.

In three seasons at Washington, Jones recorded 145 tackles (8.5 for loss), 8 interceptions, 21 passes defended, and 6 forced fumbles. He has the ideal height for the NFL and has good speed and quick feet. His change of direction is excellent, and he has great instincts. He is a solid overall player who doesn’t make many dumb mistakes. Another aggressive player who enjoys hitting and providing run support.

Jones is an even keel kind of guy. He doesn’t get too high or too low after plays. He also has a short memory. Already, he studies game film like a professional. He’ll be a coach’s favorite.

Some look at Jones and say he may be a little thin. He’s already worked on that. He went from 180 pounds to 190 between the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Add some time in a professional weight program and his body will be just fine.

The Chicago Bears need a corner like Jones. He’s not flashy, but fundamentally sound. If the Bears have a chance in the second or maybe third round, he’d be a good pick.
