Round 3: David Njoku, TE, Miami (6-foot-4, 240 pounds)

The Canes tight end carousel keeps moving with David Njoku. He is a big, athletic tight end. He provides help to whoever plays quarterback for the Bears. The offense struggled without a tight end threat. After a great 2015, Zach Miller returned to his fragile self, missing six games in 2016.

The Chicago Bears offense ranked 23rd in the league in touchdowns. They ranked 23rd in red zone touchdowns scored. The lack of a tight end providing a big target for the quarterback had a lot to do with their scoring troubles.

With Njoku, you can throw him the ball, and he uses his athletic ability to elude would-be tacklers, or he could use his strength to run them over.

Like a lot of Hurricanes players, Njoku also excels in track. In the 2016 Indoor Track season, he set the second-highest high jump in Miami history (6-foot-10). He played running back in high school and that experience helps him with his open field vision.

Unlike Miller, Njoku is a very good blocker. He gets in there and doesn’t just do it as a show, he actually blocks, and he gets pancakes, too.

Njoku is relatively unknown except to scouts. If he performs well in the NFL Combine, that could change. He may be the darling in Indianapolis. If the Bears draft him, he could be the new darling in Chicago.
