Prince Amukamara, 27 (6-foot-0, 202 pounds)

Speaking of “prove it” type of contracts, that is exactly what Prince Amukamara did. The talented cornerback dealt with many injuries. He missed 25 games in his five seasons in New York.

When he hit free agency last year, not many teams showed interest. He finally settled on a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars (I wonder if the Bears signed him what might have happened?).

After missing the first two games with a hamstring injury, Amukamara stayed healthy the rest of the season. While his stats were not the type he usually delivers, health was the most important thing for him. He showed he could stay on the field.

With that being said, I think signing Amukamara won’t be too expensive. Getting him on a bargain deal could reap benefits for the Bears.

The Jaguars still haven’t moved on working out a new deal with Amukamara. Their top priority now is finding a new coach. Amukamara publicly campaigned for his former coach in New York, Tom Coughlin.

If the Jaguars do not make an offer to Amukamara, he will get some looks by other teams. Showing he could stay healthy over the course of a season boosts his value. If the Bears sign him on a bargain and he plays well, he could be a steal for them.
