Mitch Trubisky, North Carolina (6-foot-3, 220 pounds)

Trubisky is from Ohio, and the Cleveland Browns are his favorite team. It seems that the Browns like him as well. This may be a match made in heaven, and Trubisky could be the top pick in the draft.

Trubisky has the tools to succeed at the higher level. He can throw the deep ball, and throw it accurately. He also has some athletic ability, and could move the pocket and extend a play.

Decision-making is a strong point of Trubisky. He completed 68 percent of his passes for 3,748 yards, 30 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions in 2016. He had a three-game period in which he threw for over 400 yards and no interceptions. Two of those games were against Pittsburgh and Florida State. Against those teams he completed 78.6 percent of his passes for 858 yards, 8 passing touchdowns, another touchdown rushing, and ZERO interceptions.

Of course, this is the NFL, and we’re talking about the Browns, so locking him at number one is no guarantee. If the Browns do decide to pass on him and pick another quarterback, chaos could reign early on in the draft. That could help the Bears.

The Chicago Bears would have Trubisky in their sights at three, but I feel drafting him there may be a bit high. He is their type of quarterback. They could move down a bit and still get Trubisky. If Cleveland does not go after Trubisky at one, and don’t get a quarterback, the Chicago Bears would need to fall ahead of them at 12, because they will likely pick him up there.

I think Trubisky is the man the Bears want, but if they can work out a deal, acquire more picks and still get him, all the better.
