John Paxson gives his take on the state of the Chicago Bulls
John Paxson recently opened up on the state of the Chicago Bulls. He spoke about moves made or not made, and demonstrated his inexplicably high optimism of this team.
On Christmas Day, Chicago Bulls Vice-President John Paxson joined David Schuster on 670 The Score to give his now-annual tradition state of the Bulls address. He spoke for the first time since Bulls media day in September, and gave his take on the progression of the season and the challenges faced.
Paxson opened up Jimmy Butler‘s play (and the trade that almost happened before the draft), and about the effects of having Dwyane Wade mentor him. He also spoke about the struggles of the bench, and he challenged the young players.
Paxson also spoke on the growth of second-year coach Fred Hoiberg. He talked about his growth and that of his coaching staff. He mentioned the improved comfort level between the coaching staff and players in the second year, and his hope of even more growth.
Paxson was up-front and honest about his team. He took on the shortcomings head-on, and remained optimistic about the team’s future.
The season is still young, and while Paxson acknowledges that this team probably won’t make a long playoff run, they can at least make a run to make it into the playoffs. I know people want them to lose for a better draft pick, but that just is not the Chicago way.
