With their seventh and final selection, the Bears land Houston outside linebacker Tyus Bowser. In the seventh round, I believe in shooting for upside regardless of position. Drafting for need this late is silly considering a majority of these players do not even make the active roster.

Bowser in an extremely active and athletic linebacker prospect who has shown an ability to make plays in the backfield. Bowser is a strong pass rusher, showing an impressive combination of athleticism and power. He is also a capable run defender who will knife in and make plays behind the line of scrimmage.

There is a lot to like about Bowser’s game, but he has not been the most consistent player. Bowser is an active and aggressive athlete, but he has struggled with injuries and does let his aggressiveness get the best of him at times.

Bowser is a defensive play-maker, but he has a tendency to disappear at times. In the NFL, you have to bring it on every play and that is a legitimate question about Bowser’s game.

I could see the Bears using Bowser as an occasional edge rusher who can also kick inside. That said, more than anything, he would be an enticing special teams contributor.
