Vince Biegel 2017 NFL Draft

Led by Leonard Floyd and Pernell McPhee, the Bears have a nice mix of edge rushers. They do a nice job of creating pressure from the outside, and are mostly a young unit with a ton of upside going forward. That being said, you can never have too many guys who can create pressure on the passer.

Vince Biegel has been an extremely productive player for Wisconsin as an outside linebacker in their 3-4 defense. Biegel is not an athletic freak who will dominate as an edge rusher at the next level, but he is a well-rounded player who can make an impact.

There is a lot to like about Biegel’s game. He is a quick player who shows nice explosion off of the snap. He shows a nice combination of quickness and strength on the outside that allows him to make plays against the run and in the pass rush.

Also, he is an extremely smart player who always seems to be around the ball. An instinctive athlete, Biegel does a great job of reading the offense and making plays in the backfield.

While Biegel played primarily on the outside in college, I wonder if his skills translate better on the inside at the next level. I could see Biegel playing a hybrid inside/outside linebacker role at the next level, playing primarily outside on early downs and inside on passing downs.

His versatile skill-set is impressive and there is a lot to like about Biegel on the field. Also, at worst, he should be a major special teams contributor. A strong value choice here.
