Cornerback is probably the Bears’ biggest need on the defensive side of the ball, but finding a coverage safety is probably not too far behind. Adrian Amos has a strong rookie season, but he has taken a step back in 2016. Amos is a solid player, but he is not a significant difference-maker, and he is the best that the Bears have at the position.

In the third round of this mock draft, the Bears land Utah safety Marcus Williams. An extremely fast and athletic player, Williams covers a lot of ground on the back-end of the defense. He does a fantastic job in coverage, showing an elite ability to play the centerfield role.

Williams is an extremely talented player who has a lot of natural ability, but he is also a smart player who rarely makes a mistake on the field. On top of all of that, Williams shows fantastic natural ball skills when the ball is in the air. He is a true play-maker at the safety position.

There is a ton to like about Williams’ game, and he would be an absolute steal for the Bears in the third round. That being said, I would be surprised if Williams would actually be available this late. He is the kind of player who is sure to receive more attention as he approach the 2017 NFL Draft.

While I do not expect Williams to be available, he would be a perfect fit for the Bears. Landing him in the third round is an ideal situation for Pace and company.
