The Bears have an obvious need at the most important position on the field. Jay Cutler simply is not the answer at quarterback for the Bears anymore, and while Matt Barkley has played well, he is nothing more than a solid backup. The sooner the Bears can find a franchise quarterback, the sooner that this franchise will have an opportunity to compete again.

There have been some in the draft community saying that this quarterback class is not very good. I am not sure where this hate is coming from. There are a handful of extremely interesting quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL Draft class, and I personally think it is a better class than 2016.

More from Chicago Bears

I think this quarterback class has some nice upside, and Deshaun Watson is the best of the bunch.

Watson is an extremely athletic quarterback who shows fantastic poise in the pocket and great field awareness. He has a powerful throwing arm and shows strong accuracy at times.

Watson is far from a perfect prospect, but he is a play-maker with the ball in his hands, and always seems to step up when his team needs him to the most. A big-game quarterback, Watson is the kind of player that the Bears need to lead their offense.

Defensive lineman Jonathan Allen was available at number four. Allen is an extremely talented player who was tough to pass on, but Watson is a legitimate franchise quarterback with massive upside. They simply cannot pass on a player like this.
