This was a magical season for the Chicago Cubs. They led the National League Central from beginning to end, and led all of baseball in wins through nearly the entire season.
There was a lot for Cubs fans to cheer for in 2016. No-hitters, near no-hitters, walk offs, and great comebacks happened throughout the season. It all added up to a 103-win season, their best since 1935.
In his second season as Chicago Cubs manager, Joe Maddon again made all the right moves. Pitching changes, position changes and inserting pitchers to play the outfield, it seemed that every move he made was the right move.
Chicago Cubs President Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer assembled a great team. The Cubs had one of the best offenses, the best pitching rotation and best defense in all of baseball. The bullpen was one of the question marks, but with the acquisition of Aroldis Chapman, it settled and became a top-notch bullpen as well.
Just like last season, the Cubs will have some winners in the postseason awards period. They will have candidates for National League MVP, Cy Young, Manager of the Year and Executive of the Year. With all the winning, the hardware will come.
